Over 600 Participants Attend XX International Banking Forum

Over 600 participants attended the XX International Banking Forum in person and online in Sochi on 27-30 September. The Forum’s business programme included three panel discussions, ten round tables, a business breakfast and two business lunches. About 100 journalists representing the leading mass media were accredited for the event.

Over 90 speakers addressed the Forum, including the top executives of the Bank of Russia, Ministry of Finance, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, State Duma, Federation Council, Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography, representatives of legal, insurance, processing, consulting, analytical, fintech, rating and registration companies, payment systems and payment services, leading software developers, and other companies and organizations. Among the foreign participants of the Forum were representatives of financial institutions from Belarus, Egypt, Iran, and the West African Bankers’ Association (WABA).

On 27 September, the Forum opened with a panel discussion "Cybersecurity in New Conditions: Protected AI and Quantum Technologies" moderated by Mr. Artem Kalashnikov, Managing Director at the Center for Information Security of Subsidiary and Dependent Entities, JSC “Gazprombank”. A sailing regatta was arranged for the Forum's participants on the same day.

On 28 September, a panel discussion "Technological Transformation: Where Will the Digital Hurricane Carry Banks" was held. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Anatoly Kozlachkov, Vice President, Association of Banks of Russia. After the panel, the Association of Banks of Russia and the West African Bankers’ Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Forum also included six round tables on adjustment of competition, ESG banking, IT outsourcing in the banking sector, prospects for e-money development, risk balancing in mortgage lending, and product transformation in bancassurance. The participants of the business lunch arranged by LLC Cloud Technologies discussed the comprehensive analysis of the Russian market on cloud maturity in the financial sector.

On 29 September, a panel discussion "Financial Sector in the New Conditions: Tasks, Risks, and Prospects" was moderated by Mr. Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the Committee on Financial Market of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The speakers were Ms. Elvira Nabiullina, Governor of the Bank of Russia, Mr. Nikolay Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Mr. Andrey Kostin, President and Chairman of the Board at “VTB Bank”, Mr. Vladimir Verkhoshinsky, Chief Managing Director at “Alfa Bank”, Mr. Vladimir Komlev, Director General at the National Payment Card System (NSPK), and Mr. Dmitry Zauers, Deputy Chairman of the Board at “Gazprombank”.

The Forum's participants continued discussing the topical financial market issues during the round tables on prospects of the digital ruble, SME lending support programmes, regulation transformation, and digital platforms development. The key topic of the business breakfast arranged by REGION Group was the Long-term Savings Program for Individuals and Type 3 Individual Investment Accounts. The business lunch held by DOM.RF and Sberbank focused on discussion of the development of an integrated debt settlement mechanism.

The Forum's sports programme included a morning run with Ms. Svetlana Masterkova, two-time Olympic champion and World champion, and a futsal competition with the Russian football stars Mr. Evgeniy Aldonin and Mr. Dmitry Bulykin. The winners of the sailing regatta and futsal competition were awarded at the gala dinner and the Forum closing ceremony.
